How to hit it is described in tennis as ‘technique’. Technique is learnt so you will be better in a match.
The first thing you will need in a match is to get the ball over the net and into the court.
The following basic advice will help you get the ball over and in when you are hitting forehands and backhands – otherwise known as ground strokes
1.Hold the racket in a way that is comfortable for you. On the forehand, a good way is to hold it with the palm behind the handle (imagine you were hitting the ball with your palm, then put the racket there).
On the backhand, you can use two hands or one hand. If you use two hands, probably best to have your dominant hand at the bottom and your supporting hand just above it on the handle, though not overlapping.
2.Watch the flight of the ball. Move to where it will be after it has bounced and after it has stopped rising. Reading the flight path of the ball is vital to move to the right place. …The right place involves the following…
3.Stance – for beginners on the forehand and backhand, sideways on is good enough………tennis is a moving game so try to get your shoulders sideways to the ball, even if you can’t get your feet sorted out!
4.Contact point – try to hit the ball …
a) comfortably at the side of your body,
b) slightly in front of your body
c) between waist and shoulder high
5. Swing the racket at the ball ………from low along to high…make sure the strings are pointing where you want the ball to go as you swing – it is a bat and ball game, so use the bat to direct the ball!
To serve, the following advice is the basic stuff:
- Stand sideways on to the net.
- Throw the ball into the air so that it hangs nicely in the area where you want to contact the ball (see below for where that is!). The throw-up is also called the ‘placement’ coz that’s what it should really be.
- The action of hitting the ball should be very much like a throw.
- Try to contact the ball in the middle of your throwing action at full stretch, slightly in front of you, and above your hitting shoulder. This sounds easy! Trouble is you can’t do it if you’ve just thrown…. or even placed (!) the ball backwards and three feet away!
If you get to the net, volleys are without hitting the ball, and the action should be a simple blocking action. Because you are at the net, you can use the power
Where to hit it
A ‘tactic’ is a plan to win the point.
There are five basic tactics.
First is to keep the ball in play – by getting the ball over the net into court. If your opponent can’t do this and you can…you will win. If they can though…
…. Try to make your opponent move in order to hit the ball. Try to get them off balance or at least hitting on the move and test their skill on the move.
Whilst doing this…you will be better placed to hit each ball if you maintain a good position on the court before and after each shot. Be like a goalie defending the gaps – do not get caught out of position to one side of the court or stuck half way between the baseline and the net.
Once you can do the above tactics successfully, try to play to the weakness of your opponent …this might be their forehand, but is usually their backhand.
Equally, use your own strength/s as much as possible. If you can use your strengths against their weaknesses… would be a fiendish plan to bring off.

Public liability insurance is crucial because all corporations are at jeopardy to some degree. If nothing very bad has ever gone on with your firms office block does not promise that it won’t one day in the not too distant future. If an individual is injured, or their material goods stolen, it is your requirement to suitably reimburse them. The outlay can be unbearably large, depending on the exact brand of case.
Luckily, you do have a way to guard yourself against this contingency. Buying public liability insurance lets you to breathe slightly easier. Even if a client claim is costly, the insurance corporation will be at hand to offer a protection net. Its their contractual obligation to keep you safeguarded from any claims and legal expenses brought against you. This leaves you free to focus on actually doing business, rather than thinking about what might happen. The following are a number examples of times when public liability indemnity have in the past come in helpful.
Proprietors of plumbing firms more often than not get the job concluded fast & right. However, every once in a while something might go dreadfully wrong. For example, should you unintentionally damage a client’s tubes whilst on the job, damaging belongings for example personal computers and flooring, public liability insurance will be there to cover the costs. Insure your business for cheaper with Insured Risk’s Professional Indemnity Insurance.
Another case study is that of a marketing firm. If a customer were to injure an ankle in your place of work, even if it’s not your fault, you would be held answerable. Still, with public liability indemnity you would not have to pay the claim yourself.
In a comparable position, injury caused to an onlooker by a member of staff on a construction site is the legal duty of the firm’s owner. This kind of claim can quickly become extremely costly in fact, unless you have the correct insurance protection.
Gymnastics Olympics Champions From 1988-2004
Here are the men’s and women’s all-around champions from the
last five Olympic Games — these are just brief
biographies, but they surely give you an idea of your
gymnast’s potential.
2004 Paul Hamm, Carly Patterson
Paul Hamm, the 2004 men’s all-around champion in
gymnastics, was born on September 24, 1982, and has a twin
brother by the name of Morgan. Paul was the first
American man to take the gold for the all-around
competition in a fully attended Olympic Game. He is
noteworthy for some controversy surrounding his title.
Carly Patterson was born on February the fourth, 1988, in
Baton Rouge,Louisiana, to a pair of loving parents – her
mother, Natalie, and her father, Ricky. She is the first
of a pair of girls (her younger sister is Jordan). In
2004, she became the first all-around Olympic champion for
the United States in more than two decades, and was also
the first to win for the US in the past two games. The
last female all-around gymnastics champion for the United
States won in 1984, when the Soviet Union had boycotted the
Olympics entirely.
2000 Andreea Raducan, Alexei Nemov
Andreea Madalina Raducan was born on the thirtieth of
September, 1983, in Birlad, Romania. She was trained under
Octavien Belu and Mariana Bitang of the Cetate Deva Club in
Romania and began gymnastics at the age of five. She has
several gold and silver medals under her belt from national
and international competitions. Though she is listed as
the official Olympic all-around female champion, the IOC
stripped her of her medal when she tested positive for
pseudophedrine (the active ingredient in many
decongestants) after having taken a cold pill given to her
by the Romanian Olympic Team doctor. Regardless of whether
or not she has the medal, she is a champion – and an
incredible one at that.
Alexei Nemov is considered to be one of the best male
gymnasts in the world, as well as being a pin-up for the girls.
He was born on May 28th, 1976, in Barashevo, Russia. His
start on gymnastics started early. At the age of five, his
mother took him to the local gym, thinking that gymnastics
would be an acceptable alternative to a more violent sport.
He has had his ups and downs in gymnastics — namely, with
many injuries to his arms and shoulders — but left the
Atlanta and Sydney Olympics with six medals each. In 2000,
he was crowned the men’s all-around gymnastics champion and
bore his gold medal proudly.
1996 Li Xiaoshuang, Lilia Podkopayeva
Li Xiaoshuang, men’s all-around gymnastics champion in the
1996 Olympics, was born on November 1, 1973, in Xintao,
Hubei Province, China. His career has been marked with
many successes. At the age of seven, he took up
gymnastics; two years later, he was part of his provincial
team, and at twelve years of age, he was part of the
Chinese national gymnastics team. He has won many gold
medals in his time, including two from separate Olympic
games – 1992 and 1996 – and three from the World Gymnastics
Championships. In 1995, he was awarded the well-deserved
title of International Master of Sports and continues, to
this date, to impress.
Lilia Podkopayeva was born on August 15, 1978 in Donestk,
Ukraine. Her coach, Galina Lossinskaya, brought her
through more than ten competitions all together, in which
she fared well. In the 1996 Atlanta Georgia Olympic Games,
she placed first in the all-around women’s competition and
since then has toured the United States in the John Hancock
Tour of World Gymnastics Champions.
1992 Tatiana Gutsu, Vitaly Scherbo
Tatiana Gutsu, women’s all-around champion in the 1992
Olympics, has an excellent record of performance. She was
born on the fifty of September, 1976 in the Soviet Union,
and was selected at a very young age by her coach and
trainer, Victor Dikii. In the 1992 Olympics, her career
became tarnished by conspiracy when she took the place of
Roza Galieva in the all-around competition, one for which
she did not qualify. It later became known that Galieva
was not really injured, and though it was apparently not
Gutsu’s idea to take over that part of the competition, the
two of them split the prize earnings and became bitter
acquaintances. Today, Tatiana lives in the United States.
Vitaly Scherbo, men’s all-around champion in 1992, has a
very impressive record. He won an unprecedented six
individual gold medals at the ‘92 Olympics and, all told,
he holds more than fifty medals in total from championships
around the world. Coached by two of the best in the world
– Leonid Filipenok and Sergei Shinkar, he is truly an
impressive gymnast. Now, with his wife and daughter, Irina
and Kristina respectively, he runs the Vitaly Scherbo
School of Gymnastics in Las Vegas. The website for the
school of gymnastics can be found at http://www.vssg.net/.
1988 Elena Shoushounova, Vladimir Artemov
Elena Shushonova, women’s all-around Olympic champion of
1988, was born in May of 1969 in Saint Petersburg, which
was, at the time, Leningrad. She trained under Viktor
Gavrichenkov at the Central Army Club in the then Soviet
Union. With two Olympic gold medals, a bronze medal and a
silver medal, and more than twenty other medals from
championships around the world, Elena Shushonova has an
illustrious history of gymnastic prowess, and in 2004, she
was added to the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame.
Born in the town for which he was named in December of 1964,
Vladimir Artemov came away with the all around gold medal
in the 1988 Olympics. In fact, he came away a champion
several times over, with gold or silver in all of his
events, a truly impressive finish. Trained under Viktor
Firsov at Burevestnik, at that time a part of the Soviet
Union, he also received thirteen other medals in all of his
other endeavors. Now, he lives in the United States with
his wife and children, and is a part of the National
Coaching Staff.

How many times have you heard, “Salting raw meat (or poultry or fish) will draw the juices out and make it tough?” I see this statement repeated in cookbook after cookbook as if it were a fact.
Yet in older cookbooks, especially the ones based on European cooking techniques, salting meat before cooking is done routinely, without loss of juices. In fact, if you do it right, meat that is salted before cooking can be much juicier and more succulent than meat that isn’t salted!
So who’s right? Is it the people who say don’t salt, or the old-fashioned cooks who say you SHOULD salt? They BOTH are. The issue isn’t the salt. The issue is WHEN you should apply salt to raw foods, especially meat, poultry, and fish.
The basic rule is, if you’re going to use salt, do it early. Never apply salt to meat right before you put it in the pan or on the grill. Salting at the last minute will definitely pull juices out of the meat. It will toughen and dry out the surface of the meat, without adding any extra flavor to the inside.
But if you salt your meat early – even a few days before cooking – you will be pleasantly surprised at the results! Many old-fashioned cooks, especially chefs who were trained in classical French or German methods, salt their meat well in advance of cooking. They sprinkle salt evenly and lightly over the meat as soon as it comes into their kitchen. Then they wrap it carefully, and refrigerate until it’s cooking time.
This early salting will actually improve the texture, juiciness, and flavor of the meat. It has an almost miraculous tenderizing power, without MSG and without turning the meat to flabby mush. Salting is especially beneficial for cuts of meat that are firm or tough, like wild game, the chewier types of steak (such as skirt and flank steak), firm roasts, brisket, and pot roast. But you can also lightly salt tender steaks, poultry, and fish ahead of time. An added benefit is the salt will help keep the meat fresh and lively tasting, even after several days of refrigeration.
Why does this early salting work so well? Salt reacts with the proteins inside the muscle fibers in meat. Given time, it dissolves them slightly, making the meat more tender. But what’s more important, salt encourages the movement of moisture inside the meat cells.
When salt first hits the meat, it pulls moisture OUT. That’s why the meat will be dry if you salt right before cooking. But if you give salt time to penetrate the meat, the cells start to REABSORB the moisture. And because the proteins are now nice and soft, the cells absorb the salt flavor – plus any herbs or spices you may have added to the salt – deep inside the meat. So now you have happy meat that’s evenly seasoned and tenderized all the way through!
If you’re skeptical about salting your meat ahead of time, don’t take my word for it. Respected food authorities like Judy Rodgers, the award-winning chef who runs San Francisco’s Zuni Cafe, has a whole section about the early salting of meat and other foods in her “Zuni Cafe Cookbook.” She goes into all the chemistry in great detail.
But trust me, you don’t need to understand cell osmosis to get the tenderizing benefits of salt. Simply try this early salting method just once, and you will be amazed at how much better your meat tastes.
And you won’t see your guests covering their meat with salt at the table, since the meat will be gently flavored with salt all the way through. In fact, if you’re watching your salt intake, by salting lightly but early, you can often get superior flavor and even eliminate the need to add salt at the table.
How much salt to use? That’s a matter of taste. Start with a very modest amount. Sprinkle on the minimum you would use if the meat were already cooked. I use about 1/4 teaspoon of salt per pound of meat, but thin cuts need less, and thick cuts like roasts might need quite a bit more. Go easy at first, and eventually you’ll get the hang of it.
Two more tips about salting early. First, the salt will tenderize and moisturize the meat faster at room temperature than in the fridge (don’t bother salting meat if you’re going to freeze it, it’s pointless). So the colder your fridge, the earlier you need to do the salting. Second, poultry doesn’t need to be salted as long as beef, and fish may only need a few hours.
You can also add seasonings to the salt. One of my favorite seasoned salts for steaks is very simple: one tablespoon of plain sea salt, 1/2 tablespoon of sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon of sweet Hungarian paprika. Mix these three ingredients well, then sprinkle lightly on steaks, wrap them individually in good quality plastic wrap, and refrigerate until you’re ready to cook. The sugar will help the meat sear nicely without excess heat, and the paprika adds a subtle, warm taste and a wonderful aroma.

Golf fitness training might sound grueling, sweaty and a lot of work! Doesn’t have to be that way. Now of course I’d be lying to you to say it’s easy and you won’t have to make a small commitment to stick with it to see results.
But what I am saying is…you can participate in a golf fitness training program with minimal equipment and can do it right in your home or even your office.
How ?
With only a stability ball, exercise tubing and a pair of handweights. Grand total…under $60 for your “total golf fitness gym”. That’s about one months membership to your local club that you’ll visit once or twice and never go back (but keep paying every month).
I want you to get that picture out of your head of the “muscle-bound” hulk, heaving hundreds of pounds with on arm, slamming it to the floor and letting out the infamous LOUD GRUNT for attention.
No..you’ll be doing golf-specific exercises with bands, balls and handweights that will quickly and directly benefit your golf swing. Sports conditioning or in this instance golf fitness training requires you to use your body in space incorporating balance, stabilization and sequence of timing just like your golf swing.
The direct correlation results in longer, more accurate drives, hitting a larger number of greens in regulation and walking off the course beating the pants off of your playing partners.
Now that’s “instant gratification” at its best!
And how about no more injuries! I’m dead serious! All those aches and pains finally gone. Forever! A stronger more flexible body will have a much higher level of resistance to pain and injury. And the added bonus is swinging “easier” and with much less effort, but seeing the ball go much further and straighter. It will feel like an “out-of-body” experience.
A few words of caution!
If you hear or see any programs touting they are golf fitness training and see the golfer and/or trainer using the basic machines in the gym, this is NOT golf fitness training. This is without a doubt “general fitness”. Not altogether a bad thing, but won’t directly help your golf game.
Working on a stability ball, and using tubing and handweights you can mimic many phases of the golf swing and at the same time challenge your core stabilization, balance and muscular endurance. All critical factors in achieving optimal swing mechanics for 18 holes.
And…they’re fun to use. You’ll never get board. You can always make it more challenging from a balance and/or stabilization factor.
Just try to get one of those “muscle-heads” on a stability ball lifting the same heavy weights they use. Call the medics..cause it’s going to get ugly real quick.
You see…most people who workout in the gym never challenge their proprioceptive awareness (or simply…using their body in space). This is the key to great golf.
The stronger you can get your core stabilizers, coupled with increased rotational flexibility…you’re headed to an awesome game of golf. You’ll definitely be the envy of your foursome.
So don’t hesitate to get started on your golf fitness training right away!

Other articles in this series looked at a number of exercises, mainly from the perspective of developing a comprehensive muscle building program. Sometimes we take things for granted, especially when it comes to performing the basic exercises that constitute the core of most bodybuilders’ training regimes.
It is useful, therefore, to describe in detail the processes involved in actually doing these exercises. This will help beginners to start out using the correct techniques before moving on to potentially more dangerous heavy weights. If it also helps more experienced lifters to redress some of the little faults that have almost imperceptibly crept in over the years, all the better.
In this article we’ll take a close look at the upright row.
MUSCLES TARGETED: deltoids, trapezius
STARTING POSITION
Grasp the bar with a closed pronated grip.
Grip should be narrower than shoulder width.
Stand erect with feet shoulder width apart and knees slightly flexed.
Rest the bar on the thighs with the elbows fully extended and pointing out to the sides.
UPWARD MOVEMENT
Pull the bar upward along the abdomen and chest toward the chin.
Keep the torso and knees in the same position.
At the top position, make sure the elbows are higher than the wrists and the shoulders.
DOWNWARD MOVEMENT
Allow the bar to slowly lower back to the starting position.
Keep the torso and knees in the same position.
Repeat or finish set.

Electric walking golf carts are a great way to play golf, carry your clubs, and get a brisk workout all in one. Plus, these carts make it so you can walk without having to lug your golf clubs on your shoulder. The electric cart does all the work for you.
These carts have become such the next big thing on the course that they are even taking business away from monster golf carts. There are several quality electric cart manufacturers out there to pick from, such as Lectronic Kaddy, Club Glove, Bag Boy, and Club Glove.
These carts make for a carefree 18 holes on the old golf course. Unlike non-electric pull carts, the electric carts walk along with you. There’s no need to pull a heavy bag at your side. And there are no worries about tiring out your arms before your golf swings.
The electric power of these carts saves your strength for what you really need it for on the course: scoring pars and birdies. But instead of missing out on a nice walk by sitting in a cart vehicle, these electric carts allow you to walk in Mother Nature and take in the old-fashioned golfing experience.
Some electric models of carts to keep an eye out for include the Bag Boy EZ Fold 12. This cart has an easy one-step folding mechanism, a scorecard holder, a foot brake, and moveable bag brackets.
The Club Glove Kaddy Stroller is a light, aluminum cart that offers another alternative on the golf course. This cart features rustproof metal wheels, a rear wheel foot brake, and transportable air pump.

The dead drift method of fly fishing with nymphs is the most
effective method an angler can use. Remember, nymphs are
generally at the mercy of the rivers current, and get carried
wherever the current happens to take them. An angler who can
simulate this “helplessness” of the nymph will be able to
consistently take trout.
There are basically three different ways to accomplish a dead
drift of a nymph. Each of these is covered below.
Dead Drift Method : Quartering for Wade Anglers
This is the easier of the two different dead drift nymph fly
fishing methods for an wade angler to use. Basically, this method
is not much different than dry fly fishing. Simply cast your
nymph across AND upstream. Retrieve any excess line, throwing
upstream mends as needed to allow the nymph to dead drift for as
long as possible (you do not want to “drag” the nymph across the
current). The mends also allow the nymph to sink to the proper
depth as well.
Dead Drift Method : Direct Upstream for Wade Anglers
This is the most effective, and most difficult, of all nymph fly
fishing techniques. It is also similar to dry fly fishing when
you cast your fly directly upstream of where you happen to be.
This method is simply done but very difficult in practice -
beginners can expect to lose many a fish. To do this method,
simply cast your nymph directly upstream (and in the same current
seam, if possible) from where you are standing in the water. As
the nymph makes it’s way back down towards you, retrieve in all
excess fly line – striking the balance between allowing the nymph
to have a perfectly “drag free” float while at the same time not
having to much line out (which will prevent proper hook set).
Strikes on a nymph fished in this manner can occur anytime since
the nymph is floating drag free. Always follow the strike
indicator using this method, setting the hook immediately
whenever you see the strike indicator stop momentarily in the
water or suddenly change direction. With practice, you’ll get a
feel for what differentiates a “rock strike” from a “trout
strike”.
Also, don’t be in to big a hurry to pick up the nymph. You can
let it float right down almost to your feet (within 5-10 feet),
assuming you didn’t make too much of a commotion during your
wading (thus scaring away all the fish near you). Remember, trout
will be facing against the current waiting for their food to
arrive – and you’ll be downstream from them. Thus, they won’t see
you unless you make lots of noise to let them know that you are
there.
The other reason you want the nymph to continue floating towards
you is because you want to nymph to come up from the bottom of
the river a bit – which simulates an emerging insect. As the
nymph gets closer to you, simply raise the rod tip a bit. This
will bring the nymph off the bottom of the river and put it in a
gradual, but still downstream, incline towards the surface.
Once you pick up the fly, you will then want to wade just a bit
to your right or left, then make another cast, allowing the nymph
to dead drift through another spot in the river that is just a
bit away from where your nymph previously floated through. By
doing things this way, you can cover a lot of water in a hurry -
in a very effective manner.

Dangerous Reef is a famous Western Australia dive destination due to the sharks which can be observed in it. Divers who enjoy intense and risky sports usually choose this Australian area as their diving destination. Due to the real danger that these sharks imply, it is important for visitors and divers who learn the proper safety rules before going into this area’s waters.
One of Dangerous Reef’s most known spots is a group of islands known as the Neptune Islands. The Neptune Islands are located at an isolated area and their main characteristic is that they are inhabited by a great colony of seals that have built their permanent habitat in the islands and have turned them into their home.
The kinds of sharks that can be seen at Dangerous Reef are very varied. Divers who visit this area could be able to se great white sharks in such a way that they could hardly see at other places. These sharks are usually attracted to the Neptune Islands due to the seals which live in them, and therefore those visitors who wish to have a close view of these sharks should visit these islands.
Divers and visitors in general who come to Dangerous Reef with the main intention of observing the sharks should plan their visit between March and May. Between March and May is when white sharks can be more easily seen due to the fact that during this time is when there are more chances that they would approach the shallow area.
Besides the sharks and seals which can be observed when visiting it, Dangerous Reef also offers other interesting attractions. This Reef contains some very beautiful corals which divers could enjoy along with this area’s interesting reef walls. Between March and April is the best time for visiting Dangerous Reef. During these months is when the reef corals offer the best picture to observe and therefore it might be the ideal time for visiting the area as well as during those months is when visitors in general can also have the chance to observe sharks near shallow waters.
