Please Know Holding Optimistic Expectations Is Important for Relationships

  • May 26th, 2009

Now, You couldn’t describe me as exactly happy being bored with most men (who isn’t?) and not be lying. However, I’m not uncomfortable in that way, either. I just suggest it on the blogosphere as an intriguing little tidbit setting up the story I am about to explain in grand style.

Last Monday I met for coffee with Corey, thinking of signing up for Great Expectations Dallas. Today, I stand to each of you as a happy member of the matchmaking service. No kidding, it’s true. I like it! If you’ve been paying attention, you’re probably thinking, “Stop blabbering and tell me about it already.”

Here’s how it went down, I noticed these Great Expectations Reviews and felt encouraged. They’re for quality and professional singles who think dating doesn’t have to be so frivolous and stupid.

Because in all honesty I’d never been interested in this silly social phenomenon my friends and my family so aptly entitled “Dating.” I heard it more than anyone should. Each night friends pester, “You’re still single? ” and “Please tell me you two are dating.”

“That’s rubbish,” I reply, without missing a beat. “Not after that last blind date you set me up on.”

“Don’t be silly,” they deadpan. “You have no way to know that!”

That’s just my friend The One-And-Only (hehe) Sandy McCarthy. She sets reality directly to my core to set me straight. Loved ones are always there for fresh advice. She made a good point, and I thank her for it.

Back to the theme of this essay. As I selected from hundreds of combinations of outfits for my first date with Great Expectations, a revelation hit me honest. For the longest time, I hadn’t held the greatest of actual great expectations for dating and myself in the fun-filled journey of being alive. Being single isn’t so bad, specifically when you get out there and have fun. Embracing your own great expectations works terrifically for those who believe.

Internet Sharing using a Linux Box

  • May 26th, 2009

If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange these apples then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas.

– George Bernard Shaw

The computer world was similar to all of us having an apple each till some time back. And then the wise men from the industry made networks. Ideas started flowing all over and soon came in the internet. The internet has been the best thing that has happened to the computer world so far. It has created a platform where we can share our ideas.

Since the Internet is a large network composed of smaller networks, it made sense to break the address space into smaller chunks. Network classes enable us to break down this address space. In IPv4 the various classes of networks are -

Class A networks have an address range between 1.0.0.1 to 126.255.255.254 and support 16 million hosts on each of 127 networks.
Class B networks have an address range between 128.1.0.1 to 191.255.255.254 and support 65,000 hosts on each of 16,000 networks.
Class C networks have an address range between 192.0.1.1 to 223.255.254.254 and support 254 hosts on each of 2 million networks.
Class D networks have an address range between 224.0.0.0 to 239.255.255.255 and are reserved for multicast groups.

Class E networks have an address range between 240.0.0.0 to 254.255.255.254 and are reserved for the future

Such a system makes things simple and networks are manageable. However, they cannot communicate with each other. The scenario is very similar to how communities grew around the world. With time people from different communities needed to communicate with each other, however language was the barrier. The solution they found was people who understand both the languages i.e. translators. So if you need to talk to a beautiful French girl, all you need to do is get somebody who understands French and can translate English to French and vice versa. Routers /gateways do the same in computer networks. Different networks communicate with each other using routers.

A router allows hosts that are not on the same logical network, like an IP subnet, to communicate with each other. The router receives packets (chunks of data) on an interface and routes them to where they need to go based on a routing table; the table allows the router to have knowledge of where a given logical network is located.

Most offices and homes have small class C private networks. These networks need to communicate with the servers in the internet. The only logical way for them is to use a gateway/router. Linux has routing functionality in the kernel itself which makes it an ideal choice for as routing box.

One simple way of sharing the internet connection using linux is using the IP forwarding feature of the kernel and network address translation (NAT). For NATing one can use either ipchains or iptables. It is assumed that the private network is in the 192.168.1.0-255 range.
Let us take the example of a simple network. The server is used to connect to the internet. It’s IP address is 192.168.1.1. There are 4 workstations 192.168.1.2-5. They are connected to the server via the switch. All the workstations share the internet through 192.168.1.1

The first step is to enable ipforwarding in the kernel of the server (192.168.1.1).

$ vi /etc/sysctl.conf
Change the line
net.ipv4.ip_forward = 0

to

net.ipv4.ip_forward = 1

This would enable ip forwarding.

Then we need to get the server to NAT which can be done via ipchains or iptables.

If ipchains is used, create a file called rc.fw and add following lines

$ vi /etc/rc.d/init.d/rc.fw

#!/bin/bash

# First Load the ipchains kernel module. Required only if ipchains is compiled as a module
.
/sbin/modprobe ipchains
insmod ipchains

# MASQ the full 192.168.1.0/24 network
/sbin/ipchains -A forward -s 192.168.1.0/24 -j MASQ

# List the rules
/sbin/ipchains -L -n

If iptables is used instead of ipchains, create a file called rc.fw and add the following lines -

$ vi /etc/rc.d/init.d/rc.fw

#!/bin/bash

# First Load the ipchains kernel module . Required only if iptables is compiled as a module
/sbin/modprobe iptables
insmod iptables

# MASQ the full network
/sbin/iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -j MASQUERADE

# List the rules
/sbin/iptables -L

This would look after all the entire data traffic from the local network to the internet.

Finally add this to the startup -

$ vi /etc/rc.local

Add the line

/etc/rc.d/init.d/rc.fw

This ensures that the settings are retained after a reboot also.

After rebooting the server would do all the routing functions for the entire network.

On the client side all that is required is to set the default router/gateway as the server’s IP i.e. 192.168.1.1. The entire network is now set to share the internet connection.

Better Prostate Gland Health Naturally

  • May 23rd, 2009

BPH, or benign prostate hyperplasia, is a medical phrase used for a swollen prostate. In simple terms this actually means the prostate gland, a mass similar in shape to a walnut situated just beneath the bladder and enveloping the urethra, becomes larger and can impair or even block urinary flow. As males mature, their prostate enlarges and may engender complaints for example difficulty in passing urine, a weak stream, and even an impression of not emptying the bladder fully after micturition. Nighttime frequency and even inflammation of the urinary tract can additionally be caused by prostate engorgement.

So What Is BPH?

Benign Prostate Hypertrophy is believed to be one of the more commonplace medical problems of males in their 60’s. It’s recommended that males in their fifties are tested by their doctors every year, regardless of the presentation of any problems, for the maintenance of prostatic wellness. Inability to micturate or the presence of blood whilst passing water should result in getting medical intervention straightaway.

Therapies for an enlarged prostate can be surgical operations and the use of drugs. Nevertheless, impotence and inability to control micturition may be experienced as a result of surgery. Hypertension therapies or medicines to shrink the prostate are often given to improve prostatic health, however, medicinal drugs often have unwanted side effects. So which herbal choices are recommended?

Swollen Prostate Symptoms? The Herbal Way to Reach Improved Prostate Health: — To assist in the relief of the frequent problems associated with prostate enlargement and to promote better prostate health, various alternative remedies will aid in the management of the problem. Swelling may be eased by the remedy Afican pygeum, supplying a marked reduction of any symptoms. The remedy African Pygeum has been prescribed regulary for quite a few years by Europeans as a treatment for improved prostate gland health, it is a product of a plant native to Africa. A decrease of dietary fats may improve symptoms, as well as increasing exercise, the pressure in the prostate may be eased by ejaculating often, it is also better to avoid sitting for a long period of time. Symptoms may be worsened thru utilising anti-histamines or decongestants bought over the counter, use these with caution. Additional recommendations also include to cut out taking anything to drink close to going to bed in cutting down the need to urinate at night, and reducing alcohol and coffee and tea intake can also prove useful.

There are further alternative remedies taken to improve prostate gland function — these include saw palmetto extract, Borago officinalis oil capsules, selenium, and lycopene, which can be obtained from tomatoes. Before commencing your natural therapy make sure you check with your medical professional.

Progress in IHC Performs a Major Role in Diagnosis as Cases of Mesothelioma Rise

  • May 22nd, 2009

Malignant pleural mesothelioma is a unusual and quick acting growth where no helpful therapy exists in spite of the breakthrough of quite a few likely molecular and genetic targets. The late stages of Malignant pleural mesothelioma diagnosis and the long period of time that exists between exposures and diagnosis have made it difficult to fully evaluate what risk factors do and the insuing molecular effects.

Quite a few hospitals are beginning to see increasing numbers of people with pleural mesothelioma. Because of this, pathologists studying the case are given a number of problems, which can be broken up into those discovered in making the distinction between mesothelioma and benign changes and those experienced in separating cancer of the mesothelium from different types of epithelial and tissue tumors that connect. Immunohistochemistry is a major factor in diagnosis, however, it should be understood with due regard to the clinical setting and radiological features, and with an understanding of the broad morphological differences seen in mesothelioma.

Malignant mesothelioma is a cancer directly affecting the serosal cavities, an anatomical site that is also frequently affected by metastatic disease, mostly from primary carcinomas of the lung, breast, and ovary. Progression in IHC have lead to improvement in diagnostic sensitivity and mesothelioma in regards to histological and cytological material. Lately, the researchers applied a high level of throughput technology to the classification of new signs that could help in differentiating malignant mesothelioma from ovarian and peritoneal serous carcinoma, tumors cells that contain closely related histogenesis and antigenic profile. Together with the better tools accessible for serosal cancer diagnosis, knowledge regarding the biology of mesothelioma has been accumulating lately.

NFL Players To Watch This Season

  • May 21st, 2009

Of course quarterbacks and running backs get all the attention. They score touchdowns, they sell Chunky Soup, and they get to bang the homecoming queen. They’re the ones with the big contracts and the guys who can be rewarded with either too much blame or too much credit.

Then there are the dozens of free agents that meander into your team’s locker room each year. One team’s trash is another team’s treasure kind of deal. These hired guns are generally heralded as the Missing Link, and you know you’re guilty of over-hyping some journeyman nickel back or offensive tackle to your wife or co-workers.

Then there are the rookies. The quick fix. The hotshots. They are the future and the present. Every team is hoping that they scored not only that first-round blue chipper, but that late-round gem that can turn a team from wannabe to world champs quicker than you can say “signing bonus”.

This season in the NFL there are a slew of guys whose performances will have a direct connection to their team’s win-loss records. It will be very interesting to see how guys like Kurt Warner (Arizona), J.P. Losman (Buffalo), Deshaun Foster (Carolina), Randy Moss (Oakland) and Mike Williams (Detroit) will perform. Very interesting indeed.

That being said, right now I have no interest in any of those subcategories of players. I’ll leave the big-name free agents, cocky rookies and pretty-boy quarterbacks to be talked about by the gossip mongers and bobble heads.

Instead, I’ve compiled a list of players who might make for exciting talk at the water cooler but will play a crucial role in determining the course of their team’s franchise in 2005. Some are names you know, some are names you may have heard in passing. In my estimation these guys represent the types of storylines – veterans holding on to that last chance, disappointing draft picks seeking salvation, unheralded role players trying to break into the big time – that make the NFL worth watching.

Ryan Sims, DT, Kansas City
Remember back in 2002 when the debate between which North Carolina defender – Sims or Julius Peppers – should be taken first nearly reached Manning-Leaf proportions? Well, their NFL careers have almost been as lopsided. Sims is in his contract year, and is the most naturally gifted player on a defensive line that has been a sieve for the last four seasons. The Chiefs will feature as many as five new starters on defense, including two new linebackers and two new bodies in the secondary. But if Sims can’t hold down the point of attack (only 30 tackles and two sacks in 2004) those guys will be getting a lot of work.

Darrell Jackson, WR, Seattle
Dropped passes grounded the Seahawks last season, and Jackson was as guilty as anyone. Koren Robinson is in rehab and no longer with the team, leaving Jackson as the true No. 1 guy in the Seattle passing game. Jackson had 87 catches for 1,199 and seven touchdowns last season. That’s not enough. Jackson will need to not only achieve those numbers again, but set an example by holding onto just about anything he gets his hands on and making clutch catches that keep the sticks moving.

Nate Kaeding, K, San Diego
Kaeding, the cherub-faced kicker for the Chargers, was a revelation as a rookie in 2004. Kaeding was 54 of 55 making extra points, and 20-for-25 with field goals. However, he was also responsible for missing the kick that more or less ended his team’s season. He shanked a 40-yarder in overtime in a first-round playoff loss at home to the Jets. That’s forgivable, but Kaeding missed his first three kicks off the preseason. Those three kicks were between 40-46 yards and in a steady rain, but if there’s one thing a kicker can’t have, it’s wavering confidence.

Seth Payne, NT, Houston
People are expecting big things out of the Texans this season. If that’s going to happen, the defense needs to perform better than its 23rd overall ranking in 2004. Payne will be a huge part of that. The 6-foot-4, 315-pound nose tackle is the fulcrum in the Texans 3-4 system. With young linebackers behind him, Payne needs to cause some havoc up front to take some pressure off guys like Jason Babin. Payne has had injury problems in the past, but the ninth-year man out of Cornell impressed Houston brass enough to warrant them resigning him in the offseason.

John Tait, LT, Chicago
Tait was the Bears prized free agent signing in 2003, inking a $33.65 million deal. Tait, who was part of those dominating Kansas City lines a few years ago, was solid at right tackle for Chicago last season. However, the Bears yielded a league-high 66 sacks which prompted Tait to approach coach Lovie Smith and offer to switch to the critical left tackle position. Well, with Rex Grossman out for the year Tait’s importance becomes even greater. If the Bears are going to win with Chad Hutchinson he’s going to need plenty of time to survey the field.

DeAngelo Hall, CB, Atlanta
The electrifying Hall suffered a hard-luck hip injury last year that caused him to miss six games. He came back for the end of the season and the playoffs and performed admirably, intercepting two passes and scoring one touchdown. Atlanta had the 23rd-ranked pass defense in the league last season, and didn’t make any noticeable upgrades. In a division with Joe Horn, Steve Smith and up-and-coming Mark Clayton, the Falcons are hoping that Hall can be the shutdown corner that their defense has been missing.

Chad Brown/Monty Beisel, LB, New England
Its got to be pretty tough to come in as a low-key free agent and find yourself filling in for the heart-and-soul of the two-time defending Super Bowl Champions. Well, with Tedy Bruschi sidelined as a result of his offseason stroke and tough-as-nails Ted Johnson retired, that’s precisely where Brown and Beisel find themselves. To make matters worse, Mike Vrabel suffered a lower leg injury and has been sidelined for the Pats. Beisel came over from Kansas City and their pathetic defense, and Chad Brown is hoping to recapture a bit of the nastiness that he exuded throughout the mid-90’s. However, they’re replacing two New England legends and better come out of the corner swinging.

Jimmy Smith, WR, Jacksonville
The 36-year-old Smith is hoping that he can keep the magic going for one more season. Smith showed no signs of slowing in 2004, finishing with 74 catches for 1,172 yards and six touchdowns. He is the only proven wide receiver that the Jaguars have and one of the few guys that quarterback Byron Leftwich trusts in the clutch. The Jaguars defense is going to be one of the best in the AFC this season. But the question mark is whether or not this team can put up enough points to earn a playoff berth. The only way that happens is if Smith stays healthy and tutors some of the Jags young receivers.

Jonathan Ogden, LT, Baltimore
The guy is an eight-time Pro Bowler and potentially a Hall of Famer. However, he looked as if injuries and age may have robbed him of a step last season. The Ravens restocked their offense at the skill positions this offseason, and Todd Heap, Jamal Lewis, Derrick Mason and rookie Mark Clayton are ready to put up some points. However, center Casey Rabach and left guard Bennie Anderson both split this summer, and temperamental Orlando Brown declined sharply in 2004. If the Ravens are going to make another push for the AFC crown, they’re going to need Ogden to anchor that offensive line.

Roy Williams, SS, Dallas
Last season the Cowboys yielded 31 passing touchdowns, fourth-worst in the league. They addressed that problem by signing Anthony Henry from Cleveland this offseason. With Henry and Terrance Newman holding down the outside, Williams should be free to roam the line of scrimmage and wreak havoc in the way that he did in 2003. Williams is at his best when he’s delivering vicious hits on running backs and receivers coming across the middle, or flying through the line on a safety blitz. With Dallas switching to the 3-4, and time running out on the Tuna, Williams need a big year.

Why Ski in Val D’Isere in the Northern Alps

  • May 21st, 2009

Among Europe’s most celebrated ski resorts, Val d’Isre features 528 kilometers of ski pistes and is easily accessible from Geneva airport. The season gets going in mid November and stops in the beginning of May. The high altitude resort caters everything for you. The resort extends down the vale from La Daille until Le Fornet with the focus on Val d’Isere itself. This cluster of attractive chalets incorporate chic shops most of which have developed since the resort was voted for the 1992 Winter Olympics.

Spred over three different areas Val d’Isre has lots of ski able slopes for all skiers. It has a good snow record, the village is tremendously popular among advanced boarders and motorway skiing intermediates, on the other hand you don’t have to be especially experienced to relish what is there. It’s easy to why numerous British are pulled in to the mountain, with its famous nightlife and the wide variety of amusement on offer, moreover the close proximity of Tignes permits you to head out to calmer climes if it all becomes a bit much.

Pros

A brilliant nightlife in France. Everybody talks English. Comfortable access to both Val d’Isre and Tignes collectively known as the the Espace Killy skiing area. It has lots of cars and though there are frequent buses in the day, devoted party animmals had better head to be within a short distance from the town centre.

Cons

Expensive. Frantic and very popular with English holiday makers, thus not for holiday makers seeking a classic French town to savour a relaxing ski holiday. Several ski lifts can shut in stormy conditions. A few challenging blue and green pistes.

The Next Marketing Tool: Deisgn

  • May 20th, 2009

Design sells. It’s something that all of us know, but few of us consciously acknowledge. There is an age old adage that warns people not to “judge books by their cover.” In other words, we shouldn’t judge people or products by their appearance. But this isn’t true in America. We do judge books by their cover – in fact we spend billions of dollars on products that have prettier “covers.”

Many people are aware how easy it is to create a web page and put your business online, but you have to ask yourself: is it going to be enough? Sure, you can get all the vitals of your business online and available for the whole world to see, but will your visitors remember your site? Will they trust it? More importantly, will your site cause them to contact you after leaving the web site?

iPods, cargo pants and cell phones

Oh my! What do these three items have in common you might ask? Design, of course.

Back in 2001 Apple Computers unveiled their new offering to the tech world: the iPod. This smart looking little gadget was an MP3 player, one of thousands already on the market. Against all odds, the iPod has risen above its vast competition and become a common household term. What can we attribute to Apple’s success? The iPod did not offer any features that other MP3 players were already offering, except a sleek design, stunning advertising and Apple’s clever branding. Great design has obviously paid off for Apple. In the first quarter since releasing the iPod, Apple more than tripled its net profits and sold nearly 900,000 iPods! Some may even speculate to say that the iPod has taken Apple from a failing company to the leader in portable music.

Old Navy started off as just another value clothing store spawned from the successful Gap Inc. While this company had the advantage of already having a multi-billion dollar brand backing it, it had no incentive for customers to actually buy the clothes. Old Navy has since become one of the leading clothing retailers in America becoming a multi-billion dollar brand on its own feet. Old Navy’s president, Jenny Ming, attributes this success to design. Old Navy has taken a new approach to advertising and clothing style relying on fresh, new design. It seems to have worked, attracting millions of customers to their cargo pants, PJ bottoms and fleece jackets.

Cell phones. They’re everywhere: on the street, in cars, and even the hands of thirteen year old girls. No amount of numbers is needed to prove that cell phones have become an everyday accessory as common as a pair of sunglasses. Back in the early nineties, Nokia realized that cell phones might one day catch on and become something of an accessory. The idea was brought up that cell phones could be made in a variety of colors and in attractive shapes. Shortly after concept, Nokia’s rounded cell phones with changeable plates were introduced into the market. They were an instant success. Since then Nokia has come to be the world leader in cell phones, owning nearly 40% of the world market. Cell phone design hasn’t been the same since.

Taking these ideas to the internet

Okay, so it’s understandable how design sells, but web sites aren’t tangible products like iPods or cell phones. Design of web sites goes beyond designing something that “looks cool” or uses fancy fonts. The design of web sites goes into the realm of usability, information design and graphical appearance. All three of these aspects must come together to create a great web site design.

First off, your web site must be usable. This means that the web site visitor must be able to read, navigate and use the different elements of your site. A web site is no good if visitors cannot find where your nearest office is located. Secondly, the information contained within the web site must be arranged in a way that visitors will naturally find the information they need in the least amount of effort possible. Lastly, your web site has to look great. It has to have a professional look and one that’s both pleasing to the visitor and conveys the image you need your company to portray. Would you expect a criminal defense attorney’s site to be composed of light blue and pink hues? Strong, vibrant colors project authority and power; qualities you would definitely want in a criminal defense lawyer.

Wrapping it up

Design is a major part of modern day business. Making sure your business has a well designed web site ensures you are giving your business the best possible chance. A poorly designed site can be a waste of money and effort. Don’t take the chance; hire a professional to do the job.

bet custom sports

Many gamblers have come upon the expression “offshore sports betting” by now, though some might not be totally clear on what that means. An overseas gambling website primarily acts extrinsically to the scope of a distinct country alternatively it could be a machine-accessible gambling website which has all of their file servers inside the boundaries of a land in which world wide web based sports betting isn’t at the moment outlawed.
